Mariachi Man and the Fish (POEM)

A Mariachi band singing in my head
One blows a kiss!
The other bowed and said

"You there with that crooked smile!
Come out of your seat
And walk with me awhile"

I did as he pleased with little thought
He carried me to the sea
And held out a fish we caught

It was a shimmering yellow, orange, and green
With brooding black eyes, and scales glistening with a slimey sheen

Me and Mariachi man watched as it gasped
Each breath grew more shallow
And then came his last...

The fish lay dead in Mariachi man's hands
I wept like a child
And poured over the fish: black and grey sands

Curious to me
What the Mariachi Man revealed
All have a fate and all fates are sealed
